Summer

These are the long nights
The middle of July nights
The pink and blue and cream nights
The best time of the year

They’re firefly and moth nights
Fiddle cricket tune nights
Stay out late to play nights
Until the moon appears

These are the hot nights
The no pajama, sheet nights
The window open, fan nights
The nights of frog and loon

The bicycle and stroll nights
The freezy ice cream treat nights
The skinny-dipping pond nights
That always end too soon

I like reading about your middle of July nights - so different from mine.

Absolute perfect description of July nights, at least in the south. Well done!!

Lovely word pictures Pauline. But here in FL, in July, the windows stay closed! It's so hot and humid....It seems about face from when I was a child and summer, in Ireland, was when you could be outdoors all day and half the night too as it stayed light so late! Right now I'm missing that kind of July.

Beautiful description. We have more like Irish nights here in Newfoundland. A temperature I love as hot and humid removes brain cells on me and I arrive at the Town of Pitiful rather quickly.

Barb - what are yours like?

JC - too hot for me! When I was a kid we didn't get these nights till August.

Molly - air conditioning makes my sinuses ache. I have to rely on 3 window fans.

WWW - takes me there, too, and quickly!
