Vermont Visit

Lora at 101 and me ducking in before the camera photographed us.

I've been away for a week, visiting my 101 year old friend Lora. We had a busy time together working in her garden, shopping for and preparing meals, organizing her papers at the request of her estate executor and renewing her driver's license. (Hint: if you want a picture on your license from the state of Vermont, you have to have been born AFTER 1908!)

Lora tilled and planted the garden space well before I got there. This is the before look...

and this was how it looked once we'd attacked it with hoe and garden fork.

We actually saw the sun two of the seven days I was there but only saw one sunset.

Wow, 101!! She looks way to young for such a brilliant age. And look at you! You look great!
Hmmm, is there a coffee cup on top of your head? LOL Ok, I know it's the shelfs behind you but it did make me looks twice!
Glad you're back AM!

I cannot imagine living so long! She is incredible, & lucky to be so active. You look very happy!

Lora is an amazing woman. Maybe it's all that hard work that has kept her young!

Are you saying she can no longer have a picture on her driver's license? Does she still drive? Does she not need glasses?

Obviously, you have been working very hard. A lot of weeds ripped out of that patch.

The garden is now very lovely and so is the photo of you and your friend. Weather here has been cloudy and cool as well.

flea - lol @ coffee cup.

HHB - and she drives like a bat out of hell too!

Sky - she is smaller and more bent over than she was last year but still going strong!

sky - we always have such fun when we're together. We've been friends now for over 30 years.

meggie - she says she plans to live to 106 and if she's still having fun, she may stick around a bit longer :)

Barbara - the computer is not programmed for anyone so old to have a picture license. She does still drive and she does wear sunglasses...

Roberta - we had fresh strawberries from the patch she maintains, the raspberries were in bud, she has 4 bushes loaded with blueberries, and we had asparagus from the garden though nothing else was quite ready.

Lovely photo of Lora. 101 years young, and no mistake!

Philip - Lora is still so vital and interested in everything and willing to try new things. She is a delight to be around and we continually get into mischief together ;)

Wow! Your friend is amazing....tilled and planted all THAT, by herself? That's the kind of old lady I want to be!
