Blooming Without Me

"We should all do what, in the long run, gives us joy, even if it is only picking grapes or sorting the laundry." --E. B. White

So, I am gardening in between two jobs (and falling asleep the moment I sit down) and writing for a local publication when I am awake, and reading blogs though not writing much for this one. School is winding down. Soon I will have a little more leisure time. Meanwhile, here's what my flower garden is doing while I rush about.

Here's to getting more time for gardening!

And I like the quote. :-)

It's doing very well by the look of it!

Princess - I liked it when I saw it on your site as well! E.B. gets around, doesn't he?

Lee - the flowers have been stunning this year and already I've put up an entire planting of spinach. It's hard trying to fit everything into the allotted daylight hours!

Yes, I love the quote and the garden. Being outdoors can bring so much joy and only with the joy does the garden work- it's like the flowers know when you're happy and they bloom accordingly. It always seems that way to me, that they can sense mood and also if you don't enjoy something it rarely works.

I do love that quote. I practice it often!
Your Irises seem to know what to do, all alone. Beautiful.

pauline, I always enjoy coming here for a visit. Got a bit panicky just now when I started reading how busy you are until I came to that second last sentence that promises 'a little more leisure time' (that I am happily assuming you plan to use for blogging). Your thoughts are so often the "fix" I need on any given day.

Love the pic of your flowers. They are lovely -- with colors as subtle, true, and enchanting as the poetry I so often read here.

I agree, theelementary - even plants respond to love

Meggie - the iris have been so beautiful this year!

thank you, roberta - I will have more time for writing, thank goodness. I've been missing a lot of good prompts and a lot of good reading...

You are your garden. Now close your eyes and let the rest of the world go by.
You are a busy person. You deserve a little time for you.

I'm glad you're still getting in some time in the garden. And a nap or two. Beautiful irises.

"though not writing much for this one" Is there another one??

I have the same problem with sitting down .... Standing for the last 10 years ....

Beautiful irises ... funny how everything else in nature moves, serenely, at its own pace .... must be the brain thingy thats fouling up the works ...

Great quote.

Thankyou for the quote:)

That is a well prepared garden, ergo, it blooms and blooms.
Rest when you can...if you want to!

Dave - that is the most wonderful thing to say - I am my garden. Thanks!

Ruth - it's my favorite time of day, that time spent in the garden

Paul - the main house is Cape Cod style, my little cottage is attached and sided the same

rise - had to laugh at that brain thingy. If only I could shut it off!

HHB - now that the irises are fading, the roses are starting to bloom. I love my flower gardens!

Irises always looked like they had fuzzy caterpillars crawling down the petals!
