Sunday Prompt: Weather and the Body

we think it merely blood and bone
this sack of us
sinew and muscle woven beneath a thin covering
but oh! the lovely weather

lightning and thunderclap
rain and wind
that course through vein and artery

an ocean of salty water
constrained in a bony landscape
a breathy wind that shouts in the dark

we are wind and sun and rain
weather carried in a leather pouch

small cloudbursts of stardust and earth

i like us as a mix of stardust and earth....and yeah, we are full of weather as well...i think that might be our passions...

I like the linking of the external and the internal here, Pauline. 'Weather carried in a leather pouch' - very neat as both imagery and metaphor. This works so well.

Thanks, OOTP

Brian - sometimes the words just come out right. You know about that!

Dick - thanks for your comment. It means a lot to be appreciated by a poet whose work I so admire.

Your poem is visually striking. You use words that convey powerful images such as: "we are wind and sun and rain/weather carried in a leather pouch"

Many thanks.

Greetings from London.
