Gift

The day is wrapped in clouds and cold
and so am I,
determined in my unhappiness,
marching up a mountain,
anger in every step.

And there, nestled in the shelter of a fallen log,
pierced by an errant ray of sun,
shines a violet,
a single lavender blossom,
an April treasure in November.

Growing by serendipity or design
what does it matter,
when an entire mood can be altered
by the sight of small purple petals?

Lovely....My mood has been similarly lifted by the tiniest of nature's treasures!

Pauline, what a little treasure: the violet of course, but especially your poem.

I am sorry you felt the need to march up a mountain in anger and very glad that the sight of a tiny flower changed that anger to joy.

That is indeed a beauty of a gift. I'm sorry for whatever made you feel such anger.

For which we are truly grateful!

OOTP - it is good to find hope in the smallest of things

Brian - I go out of doors when things inside become too much. It always helps!

Molly - aren't we lucky to have it so

Thanks, Kerry!

Friko - the inside of my cottage was too small for all that ill feeling (I'd been watching politics and was so frustrated!) so I took myself out and up and look what happened!

Hilary - usually it's something we humans get up to that upsets me. Being out of doors in all that immenseness always cures me of ill will.

JCN - big grin
