To Be a Tree

All I want to be
is the topmost branch
of a tree, my feet anchored
deep in the ground,
my head in the company of
clouds.

From today's prompt:
More Starting Places

“All I want to be
is a thousand blackbirds
bursting from a tree,
seeding the sky.”
Kooser/Harrison

Start each stanza:  All I want to be…” and continue.

Sounds like the perfect way to live a life. Maybe even branch out a bit from there. ;)

The photo looks like the redwoods out where my daughter lives....Standing among them is a spiritual experience.

Brian - it's how I find mine

Thanks, OOTP

lol Hilary - I intend to!

Thanks, Deb:)

Molly - that's where I took this photo. I was visiting my son on the west coast and we camped for several days among the redwoods. Being among them stuns the senses. A Zen friend once told me he thought I'd been a redwood in a former life. I avowed as how I thought I may have been a much smaller sort - I've always had a special affinity for trees.

A redwood?
I picture you as a beautiful tall white birch --
Hope you don't mind!

Mind, J? I love the thought!
