Waiting For the Magic to Hit

I know
If I wait long enough,
Sit quietly long enough,
Listen long enough,
Some small miracle
Will present itself.

Perhaps the sun will dance
In silver slippers on the water,
Or the wind will become visible,
Bullying the snow ahead of it.
I might see the silver flash
Of a hunting ermine,
Or hear the voice of an icicle
Weeping at its own demise.

I can breathe the world in
Through nose and eye and ear
Breathe it out again through the pen.
Silence and language meet
In the mind of a poet.

This is a wonderful poem. It makes me smile and remember the golden importance of patience in living eachday.

We sometimes overlook the simple things around us that are so beautiful. Lovely words

What a perfect poem.

Do you really have ermine near you? How I would love to sit quietly and catch a glimpse of that.

I have seen the sun dance in silver slippers on the water! Breathing the world in "through nose and eye and ear, I wish MY pen could breathe it out again as elegantly as yours! Beautiful images.....

Lovely poem. I really enjoyed it, especially the lines 'Perhaps the sun will dance in silver slippers on the water.' Just beautiful.

Glad, Reya :)

OOTP - I try to remember daily...

Thanks, Kerry. We do indeed have ermine here and if I sit quietly enough along the riverbank I can sometimes see one or two...

Molly! I've read the breathings from your pen and they are wonderful!

Thanks for coming to read, Star :)

Deb - that poem you posted about your son's stay in the hospital was stunning. Hope everything has settled down now and all is well...
