Happy Little Snow Song

Snow is falling, falling down
beyond the windowpane.
The playful wind swirls flakes around
and drops them down again.
They cling, they drift, they fill the air,
like many feathered wings,
and when the earth is still like this
I hear the snowflakes sing.

This is a really happy little poem. I remember when I was in grade two or three we had to write poetry about the snow. As a child, I loved snow and always wrote about it in a joyful way. Your poem reminds me of that time...thank you! Have a happy Saturday! xx

I love it! I hope I get to recite it here at least once before Spring moves in for good!

Pauline, one of my very favorite poets is Sara Teasdale, and this poem reminds me of her.

Pauline, the thoughts in this poem and the expression of them are patterned as lovely and delicately as the awesome and unexpected perfection of the symmetry of a snowflake.

This poem HAS TO BE moved to a "Child's Book of Verse"!
