One April Day

The sun woke before I did. I've been taking medication for a sinus infection and it gives me weird, continuous dreams. I sleep and wake and sleep again, the strange, detailed dreams sliding seamlessly into one another as though my waking is merely turning a page in a dream novel.

At any rate, once I was up, the sunshine and warming air pulled me out of doors. After breakfast I washed and hung three loads of laundry. Then, rake and garden fork in hand, I turned over and raked the vegetable beds. The pea fence is up, and the stick teepee for the cucumbers to climb. I found three potatoes beneath the soil, still firm and good to eat!

There was time for a walk before lunch and another after supper. I watched the sun set from my swing. I had a book but the evening was so lovely I kept looking up. A drift of woodsmoke from a neighbor's burn pile made a blue haze across the yard. Every tree trunk was painted in gold as the sun slid closer to the horizon. Birds sang an evening benediction. Finally, the lack of light and the cooling air sent me indoors. My bath towel, my pajamas and my bedsheets all smell like wind and sun. Perhaps my dreams will be sweeter tonight!

We had similar days, Pauline!
I HAD to spend some time sitting outside in the sun, just listening to spring sounds, feeling spring air!

Husband did the vegetable garden prep today. It looks so rich and loamy!

A good day. The sort of day I enjoy too.
Sometimes I wish that people would stop fretting and striving and simply take what's on offer and make the most of it.

Do you think we bloggers are good at that? I often read posts extolling the simple life.

How odd..I have a sinus infection at the moment as well and I can testify to the strange dreams which continue, on and on, after sweaty awakenings. I'm looking for that energy you found...it sounds like it was a really great day, after all.

Hope you feel better all around today...xo

How could you not have sweet dreams after that?.. medicated or not. I hope you feel better soon.

The "quiet" life!
Pauline, you are incredible. Sinus-ridden or not, you are a dynamo.
Hats off! (if it's warm enough), feel better and better every day.

HEAVENLY! I love days like that (minus the sinus infection). I hope you had sweet dreams. xo

My mother always swore by clothes dried outside on a line. That is when she wasn't swearing at my father for burning trash...

Your life sounds so idyllic amid the hard work!

Brian - sounds like you had fun without the sun :)

Steven - nothing heals one faster than being out of doors in the wind and sunshine!

Friko - I agree!

Marion - I don't know that the energy was there but I could not spend one more day lounging about indoors so out I went. Hope you're feeling better, too.

Hilary - it was a glorious weekend all round. I can't wait to be off the medication so my dreams will be my own again.

J - actually, despite the bouts of work, it was a leisurely day. I had plenty of time for ambling about and a nap on my outdoor swing!

Gary - thanks but no sweet dreams till the medication is gone, I fear. I always dream, always in color, and I always remember my dreams, but these are too disturbing and I find myself waking just to be rid of them.

Barbara - that's a perfect word for the description of my life!
